Hey, Kids: Heads Up!
The helmet is probably the most cost-effective safety device ever made, and yet only 41% of kids ages 5 to 14 wear one while on bikes, scooters or skates, according to a study by the National Safekids Campaign. And even among those who do, 35% wear them improperly a tragic lapse, considering that head injuries account for 80% of bike-related fatalities.
