Q&A with Margaret Cho

You were recently at an event, and your microphone was cut off. What happened?

They were upset because I was making fun of the fact that George Bush fell off his bike. So they turned off my microphone. Then a whole band came onstage behind me and started playing Sweet Home Alabama, as if to Americanize the space. I was really insulted because I love Skynyrd.

What are you working on now?

I have a rap group called MC MC and B Nurse B, and we're a whole posse based in an emergency room. We're like a hard-core rap group focused on preventive health-care measures like getting mammograms and lifting things with your back. It's really ludicrous.

Did you buy an ambulance on eBay? Why?

It's for my posse, for MC MC. It was supposed to be for the videos, but we ended up animating everything so we didn't really use it. But it's great for the dogs because it's got a lot of space.

You recently married. Do you like it?

I love it. I think it's really an important thing for me to be more of a mature person.
