The so-called Constitutionalists (Sun Yat-Sen troops) recaptured an arsenal from the Kwangsi army, commanded by General Shen Hung-Ying. Both sides suffered heavy casualties.
The city of Canton is reported to be safe and peaceful, but heavy fighting is in progress on the Canton river, where Sun Yat-Sen troops tried in vain to cut off enemy reinforcements from the Kwangsi province.
Chinese naval forces are reported to be helping Sun's army along the Canton river. Gunboats landed troops along the line of the Kwangsi army's retirement.
