CONGRESS: The Senate Week Jun. 17, 1929
Work Done. The Senate of the U. S. last week:
¶ Passed the Borah bill to license wholesalers of perishable farm products.
¶ Adopted (64 to 9) for the fifth time in six years a resolution to amend the Constitution eliminating short sessions of Congress.
¶ Passed a bill authorizing the Treasury to borrow on new short term bills (see p. 14).
¶ Debated National Origins and the conference report on the Farm Relief Bill striking out the debenture plan.
¶ Confirmed the nominations of John Lord O'Brian as first assistant to the Attorney General and Joseph Potter Cotton as Undersecretary of State.
