Football practice, at institutions where the game is taken seriously, began as far back as August. Last fortnight a few opening games were decided by scores so onesided that they should have embarrassed both sides. Princeton's new coach, Al Wittmer, recovered from an appendectomy sufficiently to order five men off the squad for beer-drinking in Trenton, N. J. Last week the season really started.
