Banker Bloodgood is saved by bilking an aged sea captain, impoverishing the worthy mariner's family. Not until the panic of 1857 and its attendant hard winter do the facts begin to come to light. Through the efforts of Hero Mark Livingstone (Rollo Peters) and the ultimately reformed (sly little Romney Brent), Banker Bloodgood's infamy is finally uncovered. Virtue conquers. Mr. Peters then embraces in matrimony the deceased sea captain's daughter (Dorothy Gish). Oldest play in town, it stands, on its own merit, as the most entertaining.
