Foreign News: Gentle Adolf

  • Share

Nazi efforts to groom Chancellor Hitler for the Nobel Peace Prize have been featured by press handouts from the Party calling him reverently "Gentle Adolf."

Last week Germany's prince of peace was dashing in his supercharged Mercedes across snow-covered Bavaria when he overtook two humble hikers. "Get in!" invited the Chancellor.

Twenty miles farther on, when the Mercedes reached the hikers' village, Gentle Adolf alighted with them. While gawking peasants gaped, he stripped off his first overcoat, then his second, gave each hiker an overcoat and five marks ($1.87).

The peasants roared "Heil Hitler!" as coatless Adolf drove on to his snug mountain hideaway at nearby Obersälzburg.
