Foreign News: We Want to Dress

Sympathetic U. S. women, alighting in Moscow at dawn from their comfortable tourists' sleeping cars, have been known to burst into tears at the sad sight of Russians in their utterly drab, cast-offlooking clothes.

For the first time since the Revolution, stern Bolshevik elders permitted Communist Youth Pravda to shriek in a seven-column headline last week WE WANT TO DRESS ATTRACTIVELY! Youth Pravda was permitted to flay the State clothing trust for its high-handed rejection of new styles submitted at a Moscow competition last year in favor of "old styles which are easier to make."

To drive home Youth Pravda's point a long letter was printed from a young rubber factory worker. Comrade Surkov: "For three years I have been aware of a strong desire to dress better. Perhaps it's because I want to get married or maybe just because I am jealous of my comrades. Be that as it may, I dreamt of having a stylish overcoat with a wide belt. . ."
