POLAND: Nazi's Negri

Polish newsorgans last week were full of Pola Negri, supposed by many to be a Polish Jewess.

"I am not Jewish," said the oldtime cinemactress brightly in Berlin. "The whole world knows I am Catholic. I am highly flattered that the Realmleader has intervened personally in my behalf. He must be a very brilliant man."

Before Catholic Negri's troubles were reported to Catholic Hitler last week she had been denied permission to act in Germany by Minister of Propaganda & Public Enlightenment Paul Josef Goebbels who has said, "I treasure an ordinary prostitute above a married Jewess."

Overruling Dr. Goebbels, Herr Hitler released an official communique: "Investigation instituted by Der Reichsfuhrer has established that Pola Negri is Polish and therefore Aryan."

This syllogism, if generally applied, would turn into an Aryan every Polish Jew of whom there are thousands in Germany. Nazi officials made clear that it applies only to Negri. "I haven't met Hitler yet, but I would like to!" exclaimed the grateful cinemactress. "You know, I have a lot of big men in my memories."
