THE INQUISITOR — Hugh Walpole— Doubleday, Doran ($3). Readable but pretentious melodrama of the Furze brothers, Stephen and Michael, who struggled in the shadow of the Cathedral that Author Walpole publicized in Harmer John.

DWELL IN THE WILDERNESS—Alvah C. Bessie—Covici, Friede ($2.50). The story of a Midwestern family dominated by a neurotic mother whose sexual frustration wrecked the lives of her husband and children.
