Sport: Totalitarian Tennis
In Rome last week international tennis, for four decades Sport's roving good-will ambassador, received a kick in its white flannel pants. Drawing up manifestoes for the coming season, the Italian Tennis Federation announced that: 1) Italian tennis players henceforth will be required to play international matches in uniform; 2) handshaking between opponents will be forbidden "to avoid the weed of intimacy which for too long has infested lawn tennis courts."
