Transport: Neat, Sweet and Discreet
On March 9, Seattle will vote whether to replace worn-out street cars by spend ing $12,500,000 for 240 trackless trolley and 135 busses built by Twin Coach Co. Last week, Washington's Lieutenant Governor Victor Aloysius Meyers, onetime bandmaster, had the American Legion hire a brunette, a blonde and a redhead, all young and pretty, to act as publicity building "hostesses" on a demonstrator model of the new vehicles. Said Vic Meyers: "They will be neat, sweet and discreet. To protect them in the rush hour we'll put bumpers on them, fore and aft."
