Later, she went on the stage. She spent the last years of her life giving dramatic monologues, died in 1900 while on tour in Wisconsin. Dion Boucicault wrote a play about her. Other romanticists, including Robert W. Chambers in Secret Service Operative 13, earned fat sums from stories based on her life. In recent years her autobiography has been systematically attacked as a fabrication. But Author Sigaud decided to write this new biography of Belle Boyd because he found that her interesting memoirs squared at all points with military realities as he knows them.
