In Moscow last week a special Soviet commission totted up church buildings "destroyed or damaged" during the Nazi occupation of Russia:
¶ 1,670 Orthodox churches;
¶ 237 Roman Catholic churches;
¶ 532 synagogues;
¶ 258 monasteries and other church buildings;
¶ 69 chapels.
Number of anti-religious museums destroyed: not given.
