Canada: THE SERVICES: Last Third

The Government laid down its postwar plan for the last third of its defenses—the Army. In the House of Commons Defense Minister Douglas Abbott announced that what was planned to supplement a Navy of 10,000 men, an Air Force of 15-20,000, was a well-equipped Army of at least 20-25,000 men (prewar strength of Army: 4,000). To this regular establishment the Dominion would add six territorial di visions in part-time service.

Next year it will cost Canada $1,068,170,527 to maintain the peacetime Army and pay the cost of demobilizing the wartime Army.
