On news that the U. S. would permit unlimited imports of "American type" liquors until Feb. 9, 163 ships on Rum Row off the Atlantic Coast scurried for Bermuda, the Bahamas, Honduras to get clearance papers for the U. S. on their 2,000,000 gallons of whiskey and thus land their cargoes legally.
