U.S. military headquarters in Tokyo gave its estimate of North Korean casualties30,000-35,000and it was obviously a horseback guess. But Tokyo had not yet evolved a systematic plan for reporting U.S. casualties. A tabulation worked out last week from figures in communiques, which are well behind the actualities of battle, summarized casualties among U.S. troops:
