Foreign News: Your Own House

Prime Minister Clement Attlee went on the radio last week to tell the people of Britain about the war in Korea. Attlee called for increased production of armaments, for more troops and for constant vigilance against Communist infiltration at home.

In a flat, level voice Attlee said: "The fire that has been started in distant Korea may burn down your own house . . . The evil forces which are now attacking South Korea are part of a worldwide conspiracy against the way of life of the free democracies. They are ready to destroy our lives if we do not agree with them. They talk of freedom while they murder it. They talk of peace while they support aggression. They are ruthless and unscrupulous hypocrites who pretend to virtues which their philosophy rejects."
