National Affairs: U.S. WAR CASUALTIES

The Defense Department last week reported 3,267 more U.S. casualties in Korea. It was the largest single casualty list since the Inchon landing eight months ago, and it brought total U.S. losses in less than a year of war to 72,300. The breakdown:

DEAD 12,202 WOUNDED 49,428 MISSING 10,512 CAPTURED 158

Total casualties by services: Army, 59,249; Marine Corps, 11,603; Navy, 830; Air Force, 618.
