¶ Michigan State's football team, No. 1 in the nation, over seventh-ranked Ohio State, 24-20; at Columbus, Ohio. Behind ten points in the last quarter and outplayed throughout the game, Michigan State picked itself up and scored two quick touchdowns. The payoff play: a 27-yd. scoring pass by Sophomore Halfback Tom Yewcic. Other notable results: Tennessee, with a touchdown in every quarter, over unbeaten Duke, 26-0; Texas A. & M. over Oklahoma, 14-7, to cut the Sooners' regular-season streak at 29 straight victories; Princeton over Navy, 24-20, giving the Tigers the longest major unbeaten streak (15) in the nation; Northwestern, with a touchdown in the last two minutes of play, over Army, 20-14; Holy Cross over Fordham, 54-20.

¶ The Greentree Stable's Tom Fool, the $86,710 Belmont Futurity; in New York. The victory was the colt's fourth in six starts, brought his season earnings to $120,685, and gave Tom Fool a good claim on the two-year-old championship.

¶ Ernest Nemeth, ex-Denver University guard, who claimed that he had lost his $26 weekly salary (campus job plus room & board) after a football injury (TIME, Oct. 8). Under the workmen's compensation laws, ruled the state industrial commission referee, Nemeth is entitled to $13 a week from the time of his injury until it no longer keeps him from the job for which he was hired: i.e., playing football.
