AGRICULTURE: The Farmer's Friend
While OPS has been trying to keep prices down, the Agriculture Department has been spending heavily in its efforts to keep prices up. In fiscal 1951, the Agriculture Department reported last week, the Commodity Credit Corp. lost a record $346 million supporting farm prices. CCC took its worst beatings on dairy products ($111 million), dried eggs ($76 million) and potatoes ($63 million).
