Reticent Caruso
The Metropolitan Opera this week announced the winners of its 13th annual Auditions of the Air (ABC). One is Arthur Vincent Budny, 29, a baritone from Detroit. The other, a 22-year-old tenor from New Orleans, bills himself simply as Charles Anthony, and with understandable reticence. His full name: Charles Anthony Caruso (no kin). The Met took an option on their voices for one year.
