Religion: Color Line

Last summer the Protestant Church Federation of Indianapolis began a survey of race relations in its member churches. The results, announced last week, showed that Indianapolis, like many other U.S. cities, still draws a firm color line at many a church door. To the question, "Would you allow a member of another race to be a member of your church?", 54 congregations answered yes, 23 no. Forty-one of the churches polled did not answer at all.
