Politics: A Family Matter
U.S. Peace Corps Director Sargent Shriver, President Kennedy's brother-in-law, has political ambitions, would like to run for Governor of Illinois or mayor of Chicago. Shriver hopes to squelch before they happen any embarrassing incidents in Peace Corps activities overseas, for the sake of the corps of course, and maybe with an eye to Illinois, too. Last week he forehandedly assigned an aide to "think about all the possible problems we could have anywhere and see if we can head them off." All of which could pose a "possible problem" for his kinsman in the White House: with Shriver interested in Illinois, Brother Ted making political motions in Massachusetts and Brother Bob already in Government, the President may have to decide how many Kennedys and in-laws can be in political life at any one time.
