With that simple pronouncement last week, old Satchelfoots signed a contract with the Atlanta Braves, who will use him as a pitching coach for the balance of this season and in 1969. The job will give the ageless Satch time to log another 158 days on a major-league roster, thus qualifying him for a $250-a-month pension.
