ARMED FORCES: The Next J.C.S.
The word, as passed in the Pentagon last week:
¶Admiral Arthur W. Radford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will be reappointed for another two-year term beginning Aug. 15.
¶The Air Force's General Nathan F. Twining and the Navy's Admiral Robert B. Carney will also be reappointed.
¶General Matthew B. Ridgway, Chief of Staff of the Army and fourth member of the J.C.S., will retire when his term expires in August. His successor: General Alfred M. Gruenther, Supreme Commander of Allied Powers in Europe.
