Great Britain: Direct, $55; indirect, $30.
France: Direct, $15; indirect, $12.
United States: Direct, $13.60; indirect, $12.70.
(The figures are approximate.)
The average annual cost per British head of the settlement of the American debt is said to be one pound sterling. This will raise total taxation to about $90 per capita.
