Robert Moses ("Lefty") Grove, 41, Boston Red Sox pitcher: his 300th major-league baseball game, defeating the Cleveland Indians by 10-to-6; boosting him into the select company of eleven other pitchers who won 300 or more major-league games. Grove is still far behind Cy Young (511), Walter Johnson (414), Grover Alexander (373), Christy Mathewson (372), but his winning percentage—.685—is better than any of the eleven.
