Last week the Senate also:
¶ Refused to enact a House rider to the $1.2 billion Labor Department and Federal Security Agency appropriations for 1946-47. The rider, which would have withdrawn the protection of the Wagner Act from thousands of U.S. packinghouse and agricultural workers, was sent to a joint Senate-House committee for further discussion.
¶Sent the $7 billion War Department appropriation and the $116 million Coast Guard appropriation to the President for signature.
¶Completed the $520 million Rivers & Harbors authorization bill, passed the $772 million flood control authorization, and sent them both to the White House.
The House:
¶Voted to return the U.S. Employment Service to the states on November 15.
