Sport: Acquittal by Default
The case of Drake Halfback Johnny Bright, whose jaw was broken after an unsportsmanlike roughing up by burly Oklahoma A. & M. Tackle Wilbanks Smith (TIME, Nov. 5), came up for official consideration last week by the Missouri Valley Conference. After due deliberation, the conference presidents handed down their decision: they had no disciplinary powers and could do nothing about the year's most glaring example of dirty football.
