Contrary to the spirit of most 1938 stockholders' meetings was last week's Bethlehem Steel meeting in Wilmington, Del. President Eugene Grace said that since the War, which steelmen look back on with slight nostalgia, only 1929 had been a better year for Bethlehem than 1937 (profits: $32,000,000), and he "guessed" it had even been making money in the first quarter of 1938 though operations had been at no more than 34% of capacity.
