Inspector Hornleigh (Twentieth Century-Fox), another Buy-British reprint from the Scotland Yard files, involves three murders and the theft of the British budget from the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Not a patch on Scotland Yardman Ralph Richardson for verve and sass (see above), grey, efficient Cinemactor Gordon Harker is nevertheless painstaking proof that it takes all sorts of cinemen to man the Yard.

Les Disparus de St-Agil (Dimeco), French-made, is called Boys' School in its subtitled U. S. version. The mysterious disappearances at St-Agil school are open-and-shut stuff for the eager youngsters, some of whom last year rookied in Generals without Buttons.

Climbing High (Gaumont British).

Leggy Jessie Matthews used to sing and high kick reel after reel. In Climbing High she sings little, dances less, takes on her unobtrusive chin a custard pie and a messier plot. Britain reports that Jessie intends quitting cinema for good, sticking to the musicomedy stage.
