The Marketplace: New Products
On the market last week were:
¶ A filterjet fan, manufactured by the Chemex Corp., which picks up cold air from an air conditioner and shoots it around the corner into .the next room. Price: $50.
¶ Floating swimming-pool furniture, including an Aqua-Lounge ($29.95), constructed of aluminum tubing and saran webbing, an Aqua-Butler ($6.95 for set of two), Aqua-Table ($7.95), and a custom-made Aqua-Bar ($150 to $1,500 each). The Aqua-Butler is a 10-in. by 4-in. rectangle of plastic foam, which accommodates an ash tray and a drinking glass.
¶ A frozen fresh daiquiri mix (Don the Beachcomber) in a 6-oz. can from which twelve daiquiris can be made by adding ice and rum. Price: 31¢-33¢ per can.
¶ A battery-powered shopping cart for supermarkets, made by Technibilt Corp., equipped with two deadman's switches (so baby won't drive off on his own), which rolls along at 1½ m.p.h. so long as the shopper keeps the starter buttons depressed. Price: about $150 a cart.
¶ Flexible dishwasher, produced by Ling-Temco Electronics, designed to fit into many areas hitherto inaccessible to conventional dishwashers. It can be recessed in a wall, mounted on a wall, placed on top of a counter, below a built-in range or hung as a room divider. Price: $199.95.
¶ Flip-up magnifying spectacles, called BeautyLooks, that enable women to see better what they are doing when they put on their makeup. The magnifiers are set away from the face so that a woman can easily apply eye makeup or pluck her eyebrows behind them, whereas ordinary glasses would interfere. Price: $17.95.
