In Manhattan last week, the Development Corporation for Israel announced 1959 bond sales in the U.S. of $42,648,000, bringing total sales to $368,668,900 since Israel's U.S. bond drive got under way in 1951—and augmenting the near $1 billion of charitable contributions over the last decade in what continues to be the U.S.'s top philanthropic phenomenon.
