Back on Track

Once again the stars and planets appeared in proper alignment for Middle East peace talks. So, at least, declared U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher, who began nurturing this latest round on a swing through the region in February. He confirmed the resumption following a final bit of jockeying by participants. Israel declared that it had no plans to deport more Palestinians from occupied territories. The Palestinian delegation, newly led by Jerusalemite Faisal al-Husseini, lost two far-left members, who opposed new negotiations and resigned in protest.
