Dance: Fiddlers Green
The reigning master of modern dance is feeling frisky these days: Fiddlers Green (which had its New York City premiere on March 3 and is now touring) is a toe-tapping, knee-slapping barn dance set in Eden, performed in front of a deep green backdrop by five men in white overalls and five women in white thigh-high shifts. The score is John's Book of Alleged Dances, a collection of minimalist hoedowns composed by John Adams and played by the Kronos Quartet; the steps have the feather-light touch of such early Taylor masterpieces as Aureole and Airs, with Thomas Patrick partnering the exquisite Rachel Berman in a fetchingly sweet love duet.
