Campaign 2000

George W. Bush likes to joke that when one of his daughters saw how well he was doing in the polls, she told him, "Dad, you're not as cool as they think you are." That's about all we're likely to hear this campaign from either of his 17-year-old twins BARBARA and JENNA. As granddaughters of a President, they are already monitored by the Secret Service, which has asked the campaign to skimp on the details of how the pair spent the summer. That's fine with the potential First Twins. "They're not big into campaigning," says spokeswoman MINDI TUCKER. While STEVE FORBES has enlisted his four daughters, Bush, who worked for his father's campaigns, is following the Clinton model used to shield Chelsea. It's one area in which he would like to emulate the man he wants to succeed.
