SOUTHEAST AFLOAT . . .

Torrential rains flooded parts of Florida and Georgia this morning, as Tropical Storm Beryl ripped through at speeds up to 50 m.p.h. Winds caused a tornado that touched down outside of Columbia, South Carolina, injuring at least 20 people and destroying five buildings. Beryl has since been downgraded to a tropical depression as it lost strength traveling up the East Coast, but on her coattails rides another Caribbean weather front heading toward the U.S. Tropical Storm Chris is expected to arrive by week's end.
