Murdered Gay's Interview Found
A documentary on conservative Sen. Jesse Helms' antigay views has turned up what might be the only video footage of murdered gay college student Matthew Shepard, Variety reports. The documentary "Dear Jesse" has already been screened at a number of film festivals and is scheduled for broadcast in January on Cinemax's "Reel Life" series. While editing the film, director Tim Kirkman came across a 1996 interview he did with Shepard and his companion in which the two discuss homophobia, coming out and their trepidation over joining a gay college organization. At least one unidentified news organization may air the clip in the next few days.
