ON THE TRAIL OF DIABETES

A virus may be to blame for nearly 1 million cases of Type I diabetes in the U.S., the most severe form of the disease. Also known as juvenile diabetes, because it develops during childhood or adolescence, the ailment requires patients to have a daily insulin shot. The new findings, published in the journal Nature, don't indicate a cure anytime soon but could eventually lead to a vaccine.
