AMERICA, BRACE FOR AN O.J. WITHDRAWAL
Furious at a Los Angeles station for repeating what he called "incorrect" reports, Judge Ito said he was considering turning out the lights on media coverage of the Simpson case. Ito referred to a report by KNBC-TV Thursday, in which the station stood by an earlier story that stated blood on O.J.'s socks matched that of Nicole Simpson according to DNA tests. Yesterday Ito said the story was wrong. "They have chosen not only to republish it but also to embellish upon it. This is fundamentally unfair. It is also fundamentally wrong," Ito fumed. He added that he would make a ruling on whether the courtroom would remain open to the press next week.
