O.J. SIMPSON . . . ROUNDING UP THOSE LUCKY 12
Jury selection's the one thing that's proceeding briskly in the O.J. Simpson case. That's the word straight from Judge Lance Ito, who said that all 1,000 prospects may not be even be needed for the first round of elimination in the trial. Today, 72 people said they had no problems serving -- adding to the 100 who made the first cut yesterday. This part of the process is expected to last through Thursday, after which the attorneys from both sides get to question the candidates. Ito was on such a roll today that he even postponed a Wednesday hearing on the admissibility of some evidence until next week. "I don't want to be distracted," he said.
