When we made our predictions for technology trends in 1999 almost a month ago, it looks like we left one out: More companies than ever are working harder than ever to attract female audiences online. Until yesterday the competition was fierce, with companies such as Oxygen Media and iVillage, which filed for an IPO in December, leading the way. Now, with the announcement that Women.com is merging with the Hearst Corporation’s HomeArts site, which includes content from powerhouse women's magazines such as Redbook and Cosmopolitan, the competition is murderous.
