SALINAS SAYS HE CAN GO HOME AGAIN

Carlos Salinas de Gortari, the ex-president of Mexico, surfaced last night in New York City when he called The New York Times. Disputing reports that he is in exile, Salinas insisted that his successor, President Ernesto Zedillo, did not ask him to leave the country. "Can I return to Mexico? At any moment! Yes!" he said. "But I don't have plans now to do so."
