LUGAR JOINS THE FRAY

Vowing to be the candidate of "straight talk and serious action," Indiana Senator Richard Lugar officially announced his candidacy for president today in Indianapolis. Like the other Republican candidates, Lugar wants to reduce both the deficit and the size of the federal government. To distinguish his candidacy, he is counting on his foreign policy experience and his proposal to abolish the federal income tax in favor of a national sales tax.
