CISNEROS PAYS UP

HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros agreed to pay his former mistress $49,000 to settle her lawsuit accusing him of reneging on a promise to support her financially after their breakup. Linda Medlar, who had a two-year affair with Cisneros when he was mayor of San Antonio in the late 1980s, had claimed he bailed out of an agreement to pay her $4,000 a month. Cisneros had freely admitted to the affair, but he now faces an independent counsel probe into whether he lied to FBI agents before his HUD confirmation about past payments to Medlar.
