THE PROSECUTION MAY REST
O.J. Simpson's defense teamhas been salivating at the prospect of cross-examining a pathologist who made dozens of mistakes in the autopsies of the Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Now it looks like they'll have to wait a little longer. Prosecutors unexpectedly announced that they will not callDr. Irwin Golden, saying that Golden's superior, Coroner Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran, hasgiven jurors a complete analysis of the murder wounds. As defense attorney Robert Shapiro leapt to his feet to declare the defense's intentions to call Golden as a witness once the prosecution completes its case, Judge Lance Ito inquired when that is likely to be. Perhaps by the end of the month, said prosecutor Chrisopher Darden. "That would thrill me to death," replied Ito.
