CAPTAIN O'GRADY . . . THE MOVIE
With the network TV interviews and a White House lunch under his belt,Air Force pilot Scott O'Gradyis considering the obvious next stop: Hollywood. At Monday's White House lunch, O'Grady said today, his father and Vice President Al Gore talked it over and decided the pilot should retain some creative control to make sure the military comes off right. But how about the money?TIME Defense correspondent Mark Thompsonpoints out that two famous military authors, Gulf War commander Norman Schwartzkopf and retired Joint Chiefs chairman Colin Powell, were off the government payroll when they struck their lucrative book deals. As for O'Grady: "That would set a questionable precedent, if he were to profit from it. A lot of that story isn't his -- the taxpayers paid for it."
