Citing free-speech rights, the Court also ruled, unanimously, that the longtime sponsor of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Boston should not have been forced to let a group of gays participate. The South Boston Allied War Veterans Council admitted a homosexual group under court order for two years, but plans to highlight the role of traditional Irish families this year. Boston officials, who are still torn over the issue, may now seek another sponsor.
