MOVIES . . . JUDGE DREDD
The hormone that courses through Sylvester Stallone's movie veins, saysTIME's Richard Corliss, could be called preposterone. The buffed one has become a symbol for all that is goofy and grandiloquent inHollywood's live-action summer cartoons.This summer's entry: "Judge Dredd," a movie loosely based on a popular series of British graphic novels about futuristic judge who is also policeman, jury, and executioner. Despite some superficial pleasures, the movie couldn't have worse timing, coming just two weeks after a "Batman Forever" mined to better effect the same dark territory of facetiousness and majesty.
